Prevention, Containment, and Recovery
Prevention is all about risk mitigation, removing single points of failure, having continuity and availability plans and performing ‘what if’ exercises in order to strengthen plans and find the right solutions to problems that may occur. It is important to have a solution that works for your company, not just have something in place.
Containment includes all the policies, processes or services that serve to prevent and/or stop incidents from escalating into disasters. By monitoring systems or environmental conditions in critical areas, a disaster can be contained or even prevented and a stable environment can be maintained.
Recovery focuses on needs, not luxuries – in other words, what is fundamental to keeping business going in a crisis. By conducting a Business Impact Analysis and assigning RTOs and RPOs to key business functions, the organization identifies what really matters in terms of protecting operations.
