Lets look at the first of the five dimensions (Program Administration) of the BCM Program that the BCMMETRICS (TM) Governance Risk and Control (GRC) tool evaluates in its assessment. Program Administration (PA) represents the management of the “infrastructure” or “underpinnings” of a Business Continuity Management program. The proper management of this dimension lays the foundation for the future success of the other four dimensions. In this dimension, the BCM practitioner must address the following areas in the table below:
BCMMETRICS (TM) believes each of these areas have a different level of importance or priority to the maturity, sophistication and resiliency of a BCM program. Using the concept of Essentialism which is the systematic discipline for identifying what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, BCM Practitioners can make the highest possible contribution towards program resiliency. By applying a more selective criteria for what is Essential, the disciplined pursuit of less empowers BCM Practitioners to focus their time and energy to bring about the highest possible contribution to the program and organization.
