Course Description:

A comprehensive Business Impact Analysis (BIA) is at the foundation of any world-class BCM program. This course will cover the steps associated with completing a BIA, from pre-work and interviews to documentation and management presentations.

This course is designed around a tried-and-true BIA model, providing participants with the methodology, associated tools, and the confidence required to complete a comprehensive BIA.  The BIA process allows the practitioner to learn about the business, engage with business colleagues in a meaningful way, and eliminate silos by promoting and documenting the alignment of business continuity and disaster recovery to business goals and needs across the enterprise.

Participants will be provided, at no additional cost, access to MHA’s cloud-based BIA On-Demand (BIAOD) tool to use for 3 months to complete their initial BIAs.

Audience:

This course is designed for Business Continuity Professionals with basic knowledge and experience in Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery.

  • Determine pre-requisites and tolerance thresholds for the organization
  • Initiate the BIA process, develop a BIA questionnaire, and conduct data collection
  • Identify critical activities

  • Understand the value and risks associated with shortcuts to the BIA process
