What is the state of business continuity in today’s economy? We at MHA have found that there are disparate levels of effort across our clients and colleagues. In clients where BCP is mandated, efforts continue but only to maintain the status quo. At one government client, a solid program has been developed but funding for ongoing maintenance has been eliminated; in no time, we will see working plans become stale. We see too many companies relying on a small cadre of already overworked personnel with little to no time to focus on BCP efforts, requiring outside resources that cannot be budgeted. I am happy to note that we do have clients that have integrated BCP into their culture and make budgeting and resource allocation a requirement of the organization.
